The African Journal of Applied Economics (AJAE), previously known as Economics Development Papers, is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal. Hosted by the Department of Economics at Mzumbe University in Tanzania, AJAE was founded in 1998 with the aim of bridging the gap between academics, policymakers, and practitioners in government, business, and development agencies worldwide. Recognizing the expanding scope of Applied Economics beyond theoretical foundations, the Journal underwent a transformation to encompass the diverse and contemporary issues within the field. Its primary objective now is to foster high-quality research by providing readers with easily accessible original research articles across all domains of Applied Economics. Through this endeavor, AJAE aims to contribute significantly to the existing body of knowledge on various economic and developmental aspects in Tanzania, Africa, and the global community
