i. Submission of the manuscript
a) The lead author submits the manuscript and cover page to the Editor in Chief
b) After receipt of the manuscript, the Editor in Chief writes a confirmation e-mail and sends it to the authors within 7 days.
c) The Editor in Chief will read the article and see if the article can be subjected to the further stages to be considered for publication by AJAE.
d) If the manuscript upon review by editor in chief is written as per the submission guidelines, the Editor in Chief checks similarity using Acceptable Plagiarism Check App. If the manuscript does not meet the required similarity standards i.e. 25% similarity from other sources, the manuscript is returned to the lead author with the instruction to the author for the manuscript meet the required similarity of the works from other sources.
e) If the manuscript meets the similarity standards after checking plagiarism, the editor in chief checks the quality of the manuscript so as may advance to the next stage.
f) The manuscript may be rejected by the Editor in Chief for being poorly focused henceforth failing to meet journal objectives or for being poorly written henceforth failing to communicate the intended message.
g) The submitted manuscripts which are found by the Editor in Chief to be inappropriate to be published by AJAE are promptly rejected without been submitted to the peer review stage.
h) The Editor in Chief may suggest corrections to be made on the submitted article by sending back the article to the author for improvements as suggested. After making corrections the author resubmits the article to the Editor in Chief
ii. Selection of articles
a) The responsibility of selecting submitted manuscripts for the process of peer review is of the Editor in Chief of AJAE.
b) The selected manuscripts are submitted to the second stage for Peer Review process.
iii. After the manuscript is selected for the peer review process, the author is informed in writing. The editorial board further advises the author to reject other offers during the Peer Review process. The peer review process shall take not more than 30 days.
